It was established to service the northern and north-western areas of the Kingdom as it receives and dispatches ships round the clock. It was fully realized in 1415H.
The port is considered the nearest Saudi ports to the Suez Canal and the ports of the countries of the Mediterranean basin, including Turkey 593 miles, Greece 491 miles and 988 miles to the nearest French ports.
The total area of the port is 11,250,000 m2. The maritime channels area: 154,800 m3, while the maritime Berths for rotation area: 237,463 m3 and Multi-use pier maritime area: 89,867 m3.
Dhiba Port is in the north-western corner of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the start of the north coastal line of the Red Sea.

The port is equipped with various different and modern equipment for handling general, bulk and dry cargo.
The port receives Roll-on/Roll-off ships specialized for passenger transportation and cars shipment as well as general goods ship.
The port has 6 berths with a length of 1350 m and a depth of 10 to 15 m for passenger ships, general and bulk cargo and rolling cargo services. It has a covered storage area of 12,000 m2.
