The 92nd Saudi National Day: Commemorating a Journey of Growth and Transformation

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) celebrates the 92nd Saudi National Day, which marks the day the Kingdom was unified  by the late King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of modern-day Saudi Arabia, to achieve economic ambitions and align with development strategies.

As Mawani commemorates the day through its achievements and initiatives, such as signing agreements to build 5 promising logistics parks in Jeddah Islamic Port with a total of investments exceeding SAR2 billion, providing more 6000 direct and indirect employment opportunities during the first phase.

While the Authority also launched the Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer service at King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu, as well as a bunker station in the port to provide maintenance while bunkering fuel to incoming vessels around the clock. Along with manufacturing three quay cranes at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam to handle the latest fleet of giant vessels at optimum productivity and efficiency.

Mawani is on course to fulfilling its ambitious strategy of creating a prosperous and sustainable maritime sector that realizes the Kingdom’s socioeconomic ambitions by adding more than seven new shipping services which connect it to regional and global ports, thereby bolstering the flow of trade in the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf alongside enhancing capacity for import and export operations.

A significant testament of adopting this transformative pathway is shown through global indicators, as 3 Saudi ports were leading the Container Port Performance Index 2021 (CPPI 2021) among 370 international ports, where King Abdullah Port was placed in the 1st position, followed by Jeddah Islamic Port in the 8th position, and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam in the 14th position.

On this occasion, H.E Mr. Omar Hariri, President of Mawani, stated that the Kingdom’s maritime sector is ushering a new era of unprecedented change and development, in line with the objectives of National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) as well as Saudi Vision 2030, which aim to position the Kingdom as global logistics hub.

“This Saudi National Day, let’s commemorate our history and renew our promise to pursue the path of success, through the unwavering support of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the remarkable role played by HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz in defining a futuristic roadmap for the Kingdom’s economy, which not only uplifts the maritime sector but supports its pioneering role in progress and prosperity towards a brighter tomorrow.” He added, while emphasizing the extraordinary accomplishments by Saudi ports, which are an outcome of high operational efficiency, as well as initiatives that add value to the local economy, enable trade, and promotes the logistics industry.
