Jeddah Islamic Port Welcomes First Batch of Hajj Pilgrims

The first batch of Hajj pilgrims arrived to Saudi Arabia through Jeddah Islamic Port, which consisted of 1,519 pilgrims from the Republic of the Sudan aboard the vessel (AMANAH), as the Director General of Jeddah Islamic Port, Eng. Majed Al-Argoubi, along with several government officials who welcomed the pilgrims with gifts and souvenirs.

H.E. Mr. Omar Talal Hariri, the President of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), stated that the Authority is taking all the necessary procedures to welcome the pilgrims, and ensuring the efficiency of services provided for the comfort of pilgrims and visitors of Islam’s two holiest sites as they perform their rituals.

As Mawani launched several developmental initiatives in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) and Saudi Vision 2030, such as preparing 5 arrival and departure halls in Jeddah Islamic Port’s passenger terminal, facilitating the entry and berthing of passenger vessels, and providing safe navigation with the help from the control tower run by high-caliber engineers and technicians, all of which is to ensure a successful Hajj season.

While the Authority has successfully added 54 new passport control counters in the arrival halls to reach a total of 74 counters, renovating the departure hall by adding boarding pass counters, dedicating a baggage handling facility, and adding four security scanning equipment to save time, effort, and ensure a seamless experience for pilgrims.

Considering that Mawani prioritizes the health and safety of pilgrims, it spared no effort to ensure they’re provided with the best healthcare services, by setting up a dedicated field hospital inside the port, and fully-equipped ambulances to transport patients to hospitals when necessary, as well as using modern buses to transfer visitors from vessels to arrival halls, providing baggage carts, and expanding the bus parking capacity from 8 to 19 vehicles.

Whereas the pilgrims expressed their delight at the warm welcome and efficient service offered upon their arrival, as they also conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the Saudi government under the leadership of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for providing all the necessary care to pilgrims coming from all parts of the world to perform this once-in-a-lifetime ritual, while praising the smooth organization and management of the annual religious event.
